Opinion survey postponed until March
In December we announced that the first survey to seek feedback from those who have a vested interest in the village would take place in February. However, concerns about the recent escalation in COVID-19 infections have caused us to postpone this until March when (amongst other activities) a survey form carrying some short, open-ended questions will be distributed. Copies will be sent out with the March 2022 issue of The Mallard and also made available on this website, from the Parish Council's website and on the village website. When the time comes, PLEASE COMPLETE THE SURVEY! Your ...

Update from the Great Massingham NDP
November 2021 A month ago our application to an organisation called ‘Locality’ for funds to cover our costs for the next few months was accepted in principle. The formalities needed to ensure payment have now gone through and we have been given the level of support asked for. The grant will run until the end of March 2022. Amongst other things, this funding will allow us to make a parish-wide survey of issues that will inform the preparation of our Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP). This will be needed because the principal responsibility of the Parish Council and ...
News from the Pre-steering Group
October 2021 The Pre-steering group has recently agreed a set of ‘Terms and Conditions’ with the Parish Council. This will govern how the full NDP Steering Group and its Support Group will operate under the aegis of the Parish Council. Full details are available on request to gmndplan@yahoo.com. Preparation of NDPs costs money and several thousand pounds will be needed. To help raise funds we have, on behalf of the Parish Council, asked for financial help from the ‘Locality’ organisation to cover expected costs up to 31st March 2022. The application has been successful. This paves the ...
News from the Pre-steering Group
September 2021 We’re pleased to report substantial progress in the two months since the Parish Council decided to go ahead with a Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) and to appoint a Pre-steering Group to launch proceedings. A key step has been winning approval from the Borough Council to proceed with an NDP. This welcome news, in turn, has given a green light for the Pre-steering Group to assemble a full Steering Group based largely on replies to a recruiting leaflet sent out with the July issue of The Mallard. A gratifyingly healthy response resulted in a fourteen-strong Steering ...
Progress Report by the Pre-steering Group
July 2021 At its meeting on 17th May the Parish Council resolved to proceed with a Neighbourhood Development Plan for Great Massingham and appointed an interim Pre-steering Group comprising three parish council members (Jon Cole, Kim Frazer, Peter James) chaired by a non-parish council resident (Mike Jackson). The Group has met twice since then. Its first task has been to prepare and submit draft documents to the Parish Council for an application to the Borough Council for ‘designation of the neighbourhood area’. The area designated will be the whole of the parish. At its June meeting, the ...
June 2021
In May 2021, Great Massingham Parish Council agreed to start a Neighbourhood Development Plan following a collective request to do so by approximately 55 residents of the village. The Council appointed a temporary Pre-steering Group of four which subsequently expanded into a larger Steering Group and a Support Group on the basis of responses to a widely distributed recruiting leaflet Leaflet draft 3 PDF (proposed revisions 230521). The Steering Group together with the Parish Council is now responsible for preparing the NDP in consultation with residents of the parish. What is a Neighbourhood Development Plan? Neighbourhood Development ...
