
Opinion Survey Spring 2022 – what did you tell us?
Results from the spring 2022 survey are now available via the link on the Surveys & Consultations page of this website. Feedback was wide-ranging and some of the highlights are summarised below though see the full report for more detail. What residents value most in the village are the range and quality of retail services (mentioned by 78% of the sample) followed by a recognition of a strong community spirit (56%), the Village Hall/social club and activities there (52%), the surgery and pharmacy (52%), the village greens and ponds (40%) and the attractive village centre (37%). Also mentioned were the school (26%) and the countryside and views (25%).
Suggested improvements included car parking (54%) followed by road safety (37%) management of the ponds and greens (25%), the lack of affordable homes for local people (21%), too many holiday/2ndhomes and more wilding and nature conservation (14%).
Residents also cited a number of changes they would like to see. Parking problems came to the fore again (23%) followed by the excessive number of ducks and geese, parking on the greens and a wish for more wildflowers, trees and un-mowed pond-margins. A lack of housing suitable for local people is the third most mentioned problem (16%) along with growth in second or holiday homes and many asking for slower traffic speeds (12%).
